"G Force"

If you're a fan of the first four books, or even if you're not, "G Force" - the fifth book in the series - has arrived.

This latest volume takes rising star Eddie Stewart and his team to the the single greatest spectacle in racing, the Indianapolis 500. With an innovative new car, an international sponsor, and the support of a talented team, Eddie seems to have everything he needs for success. Almost.

Eddie discovers that he will have to deal with much more than the risks of wheel-to-wheel racing at over 200 miles per hour. A mysterious series of events threatens to end Eddie's dream before it even begins. Surviving a series of terrifying testing accidents and dealing with deadly sabotage, Eddie and the guys find that getting on to the grid at Indy is much more difficult than building a fast car.

My Homework

Just in case you think that I simply sit down at the keyboard and make up everything in the RedLine books, let me assure you that I don't. I can't. It takes homework. I have to make sure that what I'm writing about is accurate, and that means doing research.

Sounds boring and sometimes it is, but these days I get the chance to do a ton of first hand research as the webmaster, writer-in-residence and occasional guest crewman for the Mathiasen Motorsports Formula Atlantic team.

The team's current driver is Jonathan Bomarito, a very talented young guy from California on a small team travelling across North America with a crew made up of close friends. And he wins races. Sound familiar? If you've read any of the RedLine books, you will quickly recognize that this sounds a lot like my central character, Eddie Stewart. In fact, Jonathan even drives a Swift Formula Atlantic car, exactly like Eddie races in books 2, 3 & 4.

Jonathan is also a champion, so it's not always fiction. Talented guys in small teams really do win races and even championships. Huge thanks to everyone at Mathiasen Motorsports for their kind hospitality and wealth of information. It makes the books that much more interesting. And it's always nice to have some help with your homework.
